Race one is in the books. The team had a rough time out there, as did much of the fleet. Dalton scored a 10, while Bora sits in 12. Luck and sailor weight seemed to out weigh equipment choices in the light dodgy conditions. Hat’s off to AMAC, who literally crushed the fleet, lengthening his lead throughout the race. There has been a ton of turnover in the results, with many of the favorites buried in the teens. If the wind stays this light and sketchy, consistency will be the name of the game.
Lindsey Bergan sailed amazing as always. She sits first of the women, with a solid 20 boats behind her in the standings. If the wind stays light, I wouldn’t be surprised to see her move up in the fleet. She is extremely gifted and tactical sailor.
The sails seem to be going well overall. Dalton won the last race of the Nationals, and Bora clenched a 3rd in the slalom, despite getting scrapped off at the start. It should be interesting to see how the results shake out, as everyone hits their highs and lows.
